Dr. Johannes Migael van Staden-Slabbert is a dynamic visionary and versatile leader from Cape Town, South Africa. His remarkable career spans diverse industries including warehousing, logistics, arts and culture, property development, and coffee manufacturing. Johannes' career is a testament to his innate strategic thinking, strong leadership abilities, and commitment to change and innovation.
He currently serves as the Managing Director at the AGL Group of Companies, overseeing comprehensive management and supervision across a conglomerate spanning various sectors. His proven expertise in strategic and future-oriented thinking has been instrumental in shaping the group's long-term vision, reflecting his holistic approach to business leadership.
As a lifelong learner, Johannes' academic credentials are impressive and include an ongoing
BA (Hons) in Business Management from the University of London, a Postgraduate Diploma in Futures Studies from Stellenbosch University, and a series of awards from USB Executive Development’s Senior and Management Development Programmes, reflecting his excellence in leadership. Additionally, he holds a Mini-MBA from the International Business Management Institute in Germany, a Certificate in Business Statistics from Saylor Academy, USA, and a Diploma in Team Leadership and Motivation from the Centre of Excellence, UK. In the realm of music, his expertise is solidified with a PhD in Vocal Pedagogy, an MMus in Musicology, and a BMus in Performance (Opera), coupled with a Certificate in Project Management.
Dr. van Staden-Slabbert's achievements, both academically and professionally have been recognised with multiple awards. He is a two-time recipient of the AGL Group Chief Executive Officer Award and is the two time holder of the Dean's Award at Stellenbosch University Business School Executive Development for academic excellence.
Born on September 20, 1992, Johannes is fluent in Afrikaans and proudly upholds a Christian worldview. Family plays a central role in his life. His motto, "The things of Earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His Glory and Grace," perfectly encapsulates his philosophy and unwavering faith in a brighter future.

Johan Slabbert is an esteemed business leader, dedicated executive coach, and an ardent advocate of Authentic Servant Leadership in modern organisations. With over 30 years of diverse operational experience, Johan has made significant contributions in sectors like petrochemicals, fine jewellery, cosmetics, retail, warehousing, logistics, and manufacturing, highlighting the breadth and impressiveness of his entrepreneurial journey.
Johan's exceptional business acumen became evident early in his life when he presented his first comprehensive business plan to the Small Business Development Corporation at the remarkable age of 17. During his multifaceted career, he even pursued his passion for aviation, becoming a qualified commercial helicopter pilot, and ingeniously applied aviation principles to simplify complex business concepts in his subsequent roles.
Currently, Johan serves as the driving force behind the AGL Group of Companies, overseeing six businesses operating in the services and professional service sector. These include Butlers Point of Sale Logistics (Pty) Ltd, Butlers Catering and Office Consumables (Pty) Ltd, Aquila D’oro Coffee Roastery (CC), Marwel Investments (Pty) Ltd, and his coaching practice Johan Slabbert Transpersonal Coach in human resource development.
In addition to his leadership roles, Johan's commitment to promoting human and leadership development is illustrated through his non-profit organisation, Agape Metamorfóno, dedicated to Early Childhood Development, Young Leadership Development, and Young Artist Development, reinforcing Johan's dedication to making a positive impact.
Johan's pursuit of excellence in human behaviour and development extends beyond his practical experience, as he has also achieved notable academic milestones. His achievements include a Master’s degree (with merit) in Science (MSc) in Coaching and Behavioural Change from the University of Reading (UK), a Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip) in Coaching and Behavioural Change from the same institution, a Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) qualification, and a Professional Certification in Coaching (PCIC) from the University of Reading (UK). Moreover, Johan is certified as an Advanced Enneagram Practitioner and serves as a Spiritual Director at the Jesuit Institute RSA.
With over 1000 hours of coaching experience, Johan is an experienced executive coach who supports and develops individuals at intellectual, emotional, and spiritual levels. His clients span various management levels and industries, and he offers coaching both in person and online, demonstrating his versatility and commitment to empowering others.
Johan's professional affiliations include memberships in esteemed organisations like Coaches and Mentors South Africa (COMENSA), the International Coaching Federation (ICF), and the Institute of Directors in South Africa (IODSA) since 1997. His expertise and impact have been recognised, as evidenced by his nominations for the “Global Brand Magazine” Awards 2020 for “Most admired business and leadership coach” and “Most reliable leader in logistics and supply chain”.
Currently, Johan is in the final stages of an Executive Doctorate in Business Administration (EDBA) at Selinus University in Europe, specialising in executive leadership development. His research focuses on the vertical development of leaders for spiritual and emotional resilience in exceptionally uncertain and polarised economic conditions. Johan's work emphasises the necessity for leaders to cultivate inner resilience in a volatile and uncertain landscape.
